Recovery Supportive Transportation Driver
Drive Hope Forward: Recovery Supportive Transportation (RST) Driver at GAAMHA
Do you believe recovery is about more than the destination — it’s about the journey? If you have a heart for service, lived experience in recovery, and a desire to make a real difference, GAAMHA has the perfect role for you.
We’re looking for a Recovery Supportive Transportation (RST) Driver who is more than just a driver, someone who’s a mentor, encourager, and trusted ally. You’ll provide safe, reliable rides while offering peer support and encouragement to individuals walking their path of recovery.
At GAAMHA, every mile matters — because every ride is a step toward healing, dignity, and independence.
What You’ll Do (and Why It Matters)
Be a Safe Guide: Transport participants to and from recovery-related services, appointments, and community activities while ensuring dignity and safety at every step.
Empower Through Connection: Offer peer-based recovery support and coaching during transit, building trust, compassion, and hope along the way.
Support Every Step: Assist riders with mobility needs (wheelchairs, seat belts, accessibility), ensuring no one is ever left unattended.
Shine as a Role Model: Use your lived experience to inspire confidence and show that recovery is possible through multiple pathways.
Link to Resources: Connect participants to community supports and networks that expand their recovery journey.
Keep Things Running Smoothly: Accurately complete mileage logs, timesheets, vehicle checklists, and participant notes.
Stay Prepared: Respond quickly to emergencies or unusual situations following GAAMHA’s protocols — always keeping safety first.
Grow With Us: Attend trainings, team meetings, and supervision, bringing your voice and perspective to GAAMHA’s supportive culture.
What You’ll Need
High school diploma or GED
At least 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record
Lived experience in recovery with 1 year of sustained sobriety
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a mobile phone
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Completion of CCAR Recovery Coach Academy & Ethics training (preferred — or must be completed within 6 months of hire)
All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen, CORI, and fingerprinting (fees covered by GAAMHA).
What to Expect
A chance to make a lasting impact in the lives of those in recovery
Full training and ongoing supervision to help you succeed
A collaborative, compassionate, and supportive team
Opportunities to grow professionally while supporting others’ personal growth.
If you’re ready to be more than just a driver — if you want to be a guiding light, a safe companion, and a voice of encouragement — then we invite you to apply.
